Fine Molds presents a 1/72 scale model of the F-4E Phantom II (Late Model), accurately representing the upgraded “soft wing” configuration of this iconic U.S. Air Force fighter, as seen at Clark Air Base in the Philippines during the post-Vietnam era.

The late-production F-4E variant featured significant improvements to mobility, including the introduction of movable leading-edge slats—replacing the earlier fixed leading-edge flaps—to counterbalance the added weight from upgrades like the internal cannon and electronic systems. These slats, often called “soft wings” today (in contrast to earlier “hard wing” designs), are reproduced with newly tooled parts for maximum realism. The outer wing slats are separate components to further enhance detail.

Also newly molded is the TISEO (Target Identification System Electro-Optical) camera, mounted near the wing root. Its lens is recreated using clear parts to reflect its optical functionality.

The kit includes decals for the 3rd Tactical Fighter Wing (3TFW) of the Pacific Air Forces, stationed at Clark Air Base. The markings represent aircraft flown by the 3rd Tactical Fighter Squadron (3TFS)—a unit known for its deterrence role in the South China Sea during the Cold War and frequently seen in Japan at Yokota and Kadena Air Bases. The aircraft features the iconic shark mouth nose art and a long nose radar cone.
