The Atlas-Agena was a disposable rocket used by the United States, consisting of a 1.5-stage Atlas missile as the first stage and an Agena upper stage as the second stage. It was utilized for launches into orbit from 1960 to 1978, totaling 119 launches. The Agena served as the upper stage of launch vehicles or was integrated into artificial satellites as a support bus for an extended period. During the Gemini program, it was employed as the Agena Target Vehicle (ATV) for developing rendezvous and docking techniques in orbit.

This plastic model kit faithfully recreates the Atlas-Agena rocket, a pivotal piece of American space exploration history. With 32 parts and a finished height exceeding 40 cm, the kit meticulously replicates the Atlas rocket and the Agena second stage in remarkable detail. This model offers two distinct build options for the second stage, created using newly tooled parts: the Agena Target Vehicle (ATV) configuration and the Augmented Target Docking Adapter (ATDA) configuration. You can choose to assemble either version. Additionally, the kit allows you to depict the infamous “Angry Alligator” state of the ATDA, named by Gemini astronauts after the shroud failed to deploy correctly on its way to orbit.

The set includes decals for various mission markings, enabling you to replicate spacecraft from different historic missions. The rocket body features intricately detailed pressure lines, fuel lines, and panel lines, capturing the essence of this iconic launch vehicle.
