The Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier Akagi was one of Japan's most iconic and formidable carriers during World War II. Originally designed as a battlecruiser, it was later converted into an aircraft carrier under the Washington Naval Treaty. Akagi played a significant role in Japan's early naval successes, including the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Featuring a full-length flight deck and capable of carrying a substantial number of aircraft, Akagi was renowned for its speed and firepower. Despite its impressive performance, the ship was lost during the Battle of Midway in 1942, marking a turning point in naval warfare.

This product is a full-hull model, allowing you to recreate the entire ship, including the underside. It comes with a display stand for showcasing the finished piece. The hull's lower part is molded as a single piece, while the propellers and rudder are separate parts for added detail. The kit includes precise 25mm machine guns, with the barrels and mounts molded separately for greater accuracy. The 96-type 25mm machine guns are composed of two pieces, making it easy to paint the gunmetal barrels and ship-colored bases separately. The aircraft parts are molded in gray instead of clear for easier handling. The decals include the red sun insignia for the aircraft and deck markings, while the wooden deck can be replicated with pre-cut, laser-processed wooden deck stickers, featuring detailed grain patterns that are difficult to achieve with paint. Additionally, the kit includes etched parts for replicating details like the elevator and windbreak fences on the deck.
